What's the best Website Builder to create your website on 2025?

Updated: Mar 28

New year, new forms of making money. You already have your next idea and need a website to put it out there. BUT there’s something blocking your path, it’s a question: What website builder should you use to build your website in 2025?

Indeed, in this moment exists several platforms to build your website with the code option, without code or an hybrid between them. In this post I’ll share with you my criteria to evaluate the best option to create your website this 2025.

The Most Popular website Builders

First let’s talk about the participants of this competition and some of their key characteristics (They aren’t ordered in any particular order)

  • WordPress: It’s free (the one .org), with a huge amount of resources and plugins to help you, but it’s a bit more rigid regarding to the design, and you’ll need some additional things like a hosting service and a domain (and likely plugins for other stuff).

  • Wix: It’s free it has many apps like WordPress, but it has way more limitations related to the services it offers like receiving payments (if you choose a basic or free plan). However Wix is quite flexible when we talk about design and it has an easy path to add Ads and connect with Google Analytics.

  • Squarespace: Even more rigid than WordPress (in my personal experience), squarespace is perfect for blogging and ecommerce. But you must pay, yet you can try out for 14 days with a free trial.

  • Webflow: This friend, is kind of new compared to the other 3 mentioned before. It offers the option of releasing your website for free with a subdomain just like Wix. It has a structure more rigid for design like WordPress. And if you have a bit more of knowledge with code you can also have access to the code and personalize it to your own taste.

  • Shopify: We know who is Shopify, don’t we? This big challenger is perfect for ecommerce like SquareSpace it doesn’t have a free plan so you must pay. If you want to try it there’s a free trial for a limited period. If you don’t have planned to sell products just yet then Shopify isn’t for you.

  • Canva: What? Canva? Yep this little friend (not so small now) has expanded their options including boards (love this option) and Websites (what you need). If you have used Canva before you already know how to create a website and soon I’ll be sharing a post about how to make your website on Canva. The best part it’s that it’s free and flexible in design as much as Wix. Yet you can’t capture emails since it doesn’t count with CMR instead you need to use another tool like google Form or any other platform for forms.

  • Code: This option can be quite broad. You could use React and PHP, or Vue.js with Python (Django or Flask). There are so many tools out there. However this might be complicated if you are looking to make your website yourself. Yet if you like to code why don’t give it a shot?

What should you look for to choose the rigth website builder?

Although this isn’t a golden rule I’ll share with you a few points of criteria to keep in mind when choosing a website builder:

  • Price: Obviously if you are starting and don’t have any solid yet you want to keep in mind the price.

  • Setup Complexity: I mean how hard is actually design it and publish it, it’s no the same on Webflow than WordPress or even Wix.

  • Long Term Management: How easy is going to be to manage in the long term, in case you want add blog posts, products or making changes to the design, you can make it yourself or need somebody’s help?

  • What is the purpose of your website: This is key, you need to know what you are going to do with your website at least in the short term (you can change later on). For example the options for blogs might not match if you are looking to build an ecommerce with a blog.

  • Storage Space: This isn’t deeply important, but you want to keep it in mind if you are going to use a bunch of images either for your products or blog posts.

  • Band width: Depending on the traffic you bring to your website this point will be more important or less. It refers to the amount of visits your website can have withoutbreaking.

  • Additional costs: Do you have to pay hosting? or just your domain? support? a plan for having an ecommerce?
